The West Virginia Partnership for Health Innovation (WVPHI) is a coordinating group for health care insurers, providers, consumers and community-based organizations in West Virginia. Their goal is to create a system committed to better quality care, lower health care costs and better population health.

The WV College of Emergency Physicians is one of the partners and has reviewed Choosing Wisely Guidelines for Emergency Care. They have selected early referral to hospice and palliative care as a priority for improvement. A conference in April 2023 will provide education on hospice and palliative care before a pilot project is launched.

More information on this initiative can be found on the WVPHI website.
